1. Aktarma fiili present olarak verildiğinde aktarılacak cümlenin zamanında bir değişiklik yapılmaz. Aktarma fiili past olarak verildiğinde aktarılacak cümlenin bir derece geçmişi alınır.

He says to me   I will call you later.

He said to me he would call me later.

1. If Clause  da sadece type1′in bir derece geçmiÅŸi alınır. Type2 ve type3′te zaman deÄŸiÅŸikliÄŸi yapılmaz.

He said to me  if I find an answer, I will call you.

He said to me  if he found an answer, he wouldn’t go there.

He said to me  if I were you, I wouldn’t go there.

He said to me if he were me, he wouldn’t go there.

Kendi başına anlamı olan bir cümlenin başına  mesi, -ması, – dığı, – gerçeÄŸi anlamında getirilir.

1. Özen durumunda : That = The fact that

Cümle başında isim cümlesinin oluşturulmasında kullanılırlar ve cümle başındayken cümleden atılamazlar.

Smoking makes people stupid.

The fact that / that smoking makes people stupid is true.

1. Nesne durumunda : Ortada kullanımda that’in gelmesi isteÄŸe baÄŸlıdır.

We think (that) he is dishonest.

UYARI: The fact that  ortaya sadece preposition’dan sonra gelebilir. Bu durumda cümleden atılamaz ve yerine  that  getirilemez.

WHETHER / IF

İsim cümlelerinin başına  olup olmadığı  anlamını vermek için whether / if getirilir.

1. Özne durumunda: Özne durumunda sadece whether kullanılır.

Whether he tells us the truth (or not) is not important for us.

1. Nesne durumunda : Ortada kullanımda hem if hem whether gelebilir.

We don’t know whether / if he is telling the truth.

NOT: Whether ve if  te  or not  kullanımı isteÄŸe baÄŸlıdır. Whether’da  or not  hemen kendisinden sonra ya da cümle sonunda gelebilir. If   te ise sadece cümle sonuna gelir.

He wanted to know whether or not I had liked the film.

He wanted to know whether / if I had liked the film or not.
